Every APS student will have:

GOAL 2: A set of skills to implement his or her plan.

APS students will develop the following 21st century skills:

  • Critical Thinking (examples: problem solving and global and cultural awareness)
  • Collaboration (examples: communication, interpersonal skills)
  • Self-Direction (examples: personal and civic responsibility, work ethic, financial literacy, resiliency, adaptability)
  • Information Literacy (example: find and use information and information technology)
  • Invention (examples: creativity and innovation)

By 2020, 100% of APS students will develop 21st century skills to implement their plans (100% of students will receive a C or better in at least 3 of the 5 primary subject areas: English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Art/Music/PE).


The expected outcomes for Goal 2 are increased growth and proficiency rates as measured by State indicators:

  • CMAS / PARCC
  • ACCESS

The table displays the percentage of students receiving a C or better in at least 3 of the 5 primary subject areas (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Arts/Music/PE). If the student only enrolls in 4 of those subject areas, they must still pass a minimum of 3 to be included. If they enrolled in 3 areas, they must pass 2 to be considered successful. If a student is enrolled in 2 areas or less, they were not included in this table.
